Federal and state government agencies are constantly seeking small businesses for a variety of goods and services. Government agencies seek out small businesses through a process called soliciting, where a solicitation (Statement of Work) is issued to small business. The solicitation explains what the agencies needs are. You will respond to the solicitation with a proposal or a quote, offering your service. In order to bid on a Government contract, your small business needs to be properly established and certified. This class will teach you the steps in establishing your small business and the proper phases to position your business to successfully bid on Government contracts.

Session 1 – Types of marketable goods and services
Session 2 – ***Establishing your small business
Session 3 – Business Registrations
Session 4 – Drafting your capability statement
Session 5 – Who’s looking for your services? Where to find solicitations
Session 6 – Proposal writing
Session 7 – Government rules and regulations
Session 8 – Funding & Marketing
****Mandatory homework assignments for sessions 2, 3, 4, 6 and final class project will be due on October 1, 2019.
This class will require outside time needed in-between sessions to complete the homework assignments. At the end of the session you will have your business portfolio completed. Prior to the start of class, each student will have an individual 30 minute session with me to discuss the type of business you will establish or have already established.
